Working remotely never skied so good.

We can all agree this year–and this winter–looks very different than what we’re used to, and there are many things we miss.

But, there are also many things we can find. Like weekday powder turns under Utah’s clear blue skies, all while holding down a big-city job. Or sending your kids to a half-day of ski school in lieu of recess. Because, thanks to the widespread embrace of working from home and schooling from home, it’s perfectly possible to hunker down in a cozy rental property—a cabin, home, or condo—right at the base of two of the most famed resorts in the Wasatch, Alta and Snowbird. Alta Chalets now has many properties with excellent high-speed internet access, which means work and learning can continue uninterrupted … just with a lot of added fun in your free hours.

“We’re seeing a fun uptick in travelers sticking around for the work week,” says Adrienne Ruderman, co-owner of the Chalets alongside her husband, Dan. “People are realizing that they can come live the Alta life while they work or have their kids in school online. They can head out for a few turns by day, then wrap work by the fire in the evening.”

Some work-from-paradise travelers are using time-zone differences to their advantage, too. It’s only 3pm at Alta when companies back east are closing for the day … and the Collins ski lift runs till 4:30pm. You do the math, but that adds up to quite a few delightful ski turns to wrap up the workday.

The Alta Chalets team has worked hard to establish highly effective pandemic safety protocol to keep guests safe so your mountain time is worry-free. Guests check in remotely rather than in person, and each property is thoroughly sanitized top-to-bottom in between guest stays. Since you’ll have a full kitchen of your own in your cabin or condo, you needn’t jostle in line at the resort cafeterias. In fact, just let the Alta Chalets staff know you’d like grocery or prepared-meal delivery and it’ll happen like magic. Your rental property is a safe cocoon that just happens to have world-class skiing outside the doorstep.

If you, your family, or “quaran-pod” friend group would like to make the most of remote work or school while staying at Alta, here are the units with high-speed internet.

All units at the View Condominiums
The View condos live up to their name, with every unit offering sweeping views down-canyon toward the towering ridgelines of Mt. Superior, Monte Cristo, Hogum Fork, and Salt Lake Valley in the far distance. These beautifully appointed spaces range from one to three bedrooms, and each boasts a wood-burning fireplace for a glowy evening ambience. You can ski to and from snowbird, and a free shuttle will take you the four minute drive to the base of Alta.

Chalet Day Johns
You’ll feel right at home in the upscale-rustic Chalet Day Johns, which accommodates a whopping 23 guests with its eight bedrooms and nine bathrooms. This Chalet is the perfect choice if you’re bringing the whole gang and want everyone to have their own space to spread out. No one will have even the chance to be bored for a moment thanks to the home’s five fireplaces, hot tub, steam bath, entertainment room, and kitchen. It’s just a few moments’ walk to the base of Alta, and you can ski back to the house.

The Fort House
Perfectly named because it’s a wonderful place to hunker down, the Fort House has just about everything needed to keep your brood happy, including two master suites, four additional bedrooms, six baths, a hot tub, wrap-around deck, barbeque, and game room. Alta’s chairlifts are a couple minutes’ walk up the road, and you can ski right back home. The ski bus can also take you the three minutes down to Snowbird if you care to mix things up.

Superior Point 2F
Located right between Alta and Snowbird, less than five minutes from each, sits Superior Point, where an airy three-bedroom, three bathroom unit serves as a comfy getaway for up to eight people. (One bedroom has two twin bunkbeds, and another has three twin-sized beds, so if you have kiddos in tow, you’re in good shape.) Take advantage of the gourmet kitchen, private hot tub, and attached garage (a luxury in the mountains!) and plenty of cozy nooks where you can work or study.

Black Bear Chalet
A charming Lodgepole Pine log cabin that’s been spectacularly restored for plush modern living, the Black Bear Chalet offers four bedrooms and can accommodate as many as ten people. With multiple fireplaces, a sprawling great room, a luxury kitchen, and a large deck, everyone can find a spot to be productive before (or after) a little fresh air on skis. The chalet feels particularly “away from it all” thanks to its location along Little Cottonwood Creek. You can take a short walk or shuttle ride to either the base of Alta or Snowbird to stretch your legs.

PhotoHaus Baldy and Flagstaff
An artfully renovated luxury mountain home, the PhotoHaus includes a second-floor unit, Baldy, and a third-floor unit, Flagstaff. It’s hard to imagine a more visually stunning place to spend your apres-ski afternoons and evenings working or reading quietly by the fire. A gourmet kitchen, gorgeous furnishings, fixtures, and art, and outer deck hot tubs make the experience all the more magical. The Baldy PhotoHaus has two bedrooms and two bathrooms for a maximum of six people, while the Flagstaff PhotoHaus also has two bedrooms and baths but also features a ladder-accessed loft with another two twin beds to accommodate up to eight people.

As always, the Alta Chalets staff is on hand to answer any questions you have about booking or which property would be the best fit for you. Simply reach out and we’ll be right at your side to plan a relaxing (and even productive!) stay.
