Backcountry Skiing and Snowshoeing

SNOWSHOEING
For those who enjoy walking snowshoeing is a wonderful way to experience our beautiful mountains without skis. Alta Ski Area offers wonderful opportunities for snowshoeing. Bring a picnic lunch (weather permitting) and venture off to explore some of this wonderful terrain.

Snowshoe rentals are available at the Alta Ski Shop located in the Wildcat Ticket Office near the Collins Lift.

If you are an experienced back country skier the Utah Avalanche Forecast Center offers daily reports and warnings on backcountry conditions. For the less experienced backcountry skier, or for those not familiar with the terrain, Utah Mountain Adventures offers year-round climbing and backcountry skiing guide service, with an instructional emphasis.
