More than 200 years ago, Bavaria’s Crown Prince Ludwig threw a five-day celebration to mark his marriage to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. That royal wedding party became the world-famous Oktoberfest in Munich, now drawing over six million visitors each year for beer, brats, and lively polka music.
If hopping on a flight to Germany isn’t in the cards, no worries! Snowbird Resort Oktoberfest brings the celebration stateside in a big way. Held high in Utah’s Little Cottonwood Canyon, this highly anticipated festival has grown into one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in the U.S. and regularly ranks as one of the best in the country.
Snowbird’s stunning alpine setting, just 28 miles from Salt Lake City, offers a one-of-a-kind backdrop for the festivities. When you’re not dancing in the Oktoberfest Halle, sipping a local Utah brewery craft beer, or sampling an Über Pretzel, there’s plenty more to explore.
When you’re not polka dancing in lederhosen and hoisting a stein, there’s hiking & biking, fly fishing, rock climbing, fall leaf-peeping, and endless classic alpine resort activities at Snowbird Resort and nearby Alta Resort.
