This gem of a restaurant is located in downtown Salt Lake City and is the perfect place to have lunch or dinner before heading to a show. Regent Street is located on the back side of the Eccles Theater; so an easy walk to Abravanel Hall, Eccles, Gallivan Center, Salt Palace and Capital Theaters.
The menu is creative, offering a wonderful selection of cocktails, salads, inventive pizzas and pastas and succulent entrees. We started with a sampling of their salads – Roasted beets with cinnamon, olive oil pistachios and house ricotta, Caesar with baby romaine, roasted garlic and lemon dressing and anchovy fried olives and the shredded brussels with brown butter, shallows, cider vinegar, orange juice and house ricotta and pumpkin seeds.
The pizza menu has an Little Cottonwood Canyon theme – we tried the Patsy Marley (little neck clams, roasted sweet pepper, chorizo, house pulled mozzarella, milled tomato, saffron aioli) and the Baldy (garlic oil, Valle d'Aosta fontina, artichoke, parma prosciutto, fame egg, baby greens).
For entrees we sampled the scallops with whipped potatoes, mixed mushrooms, charred zucchini and curry fondue and the Albacore Tuna with heirloom tomatoes, marinated cucumbers, olive tapenade and garlic and chili condiment.
Everything was perfectly prepared, portions were good sized, ingredients were fresh and flavors where incredible. Our only regret is that we did not have enough room to sample the pastas. We will definitely return to this gem of a restaurant and highly recommend it next time you venture through Salt Lake. The Fireside on Regent is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. They do not take reservations so we recommend arriving early, especially if you are trying to make a show.
